balance sculptures

leftovers
This series of sculptures was made with leftover wood cuttings from furniture design.
It’s a playful reminder of the compositions i have build as a child and an hommage to the beautiful qualities of wood with its many variations.
At the same time this work wants to be an invitation to build your own compositions and in that sense it links to an earlier work with the title Exercises in Style [2015].

Aldo Kroese’s sculptures and installations are not stationary. Time and movement are the coordinates within which he conceptualises his works. Like experimental setups, the ephemeral works change from one state to the next in accordance with rules specified by the artist. The result is unpredictable. Starting with the vitality of water as a medium, Kroese depicts scientific findings, which can be seen in the context of global environmental changes.
This catalogue is published on the occasion of Kroese’s first institutional solo exhibition in Germany.
